Ann Willenborg aka "Josie"
Psalm 23The Lord, the Psalmist’s Shepherd.
A Psalm of David. The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. 3 He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. 4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows. 6 Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life, And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. |
Tribute to Mom (1939 to 2015)
Ann's smile was never ending. Can anyone even remember one time they saw her without a smile on her face?? Whether she was helping you at Calico Hens, sharing matters of the heart or just passing you by, her words were kind and caring. Ann's entire life was one of joy and contentment, something that she got from her relationship with the Lord.
Ann and Phil grew up one block apart in Houston and never met each other until attending the University of Houston. They fell in love fast and I'm sure Ann did not realize the adventurous things that lie ahead! Ann was introduced to hunting and fishing, lots of traveling that included several dangerous raft rides, an African safari, as well as some other great travel destinations. For many years Phil and Ann enjoyed traveling to the Rockies for snow skiing with friends and family. Ann and Phil enjoyed 56 years of dedication and commitment to each other in their marriage.
In her role as wife and mother, Ann was more than dedicated. Phil was truly blessed to be married to an "old fashioned" style woman who knew how to care for her home and family. Right down to ironing the cloth hankies (well for the early part of the marriage anyway) . . . to a house decorated with all those "rinky dinks" . . . and don't forget all the gourmet meals as she loved to cook. Ann took her role as mother the most serious, being a stay at home mom until Mike and Terry were teens she also knew the importance of teaching them about God.
Proverbs 31:10-12 Who can find a good wife? For she is worth far more than rubies that make one rich. The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will never stop getting good things. She does him good and not bad all the days of her life.
Many had the joy of experiencing a friendship with Ann, she had the biggest heart for listening to other people's problems and could have easily replaced any high priced shrink around. She didn't sugar coat her advise but always told you her honest opinion and gave great encouragement. Her daughter and granddaughter both would tell you that she was their "best friend", who always had an ear, and gave love unconditionally.
Ann enjoyed many things in life. As a youth she enjoyed her pets, horses, singing and getting to know the Lord. During her "stay at home mom" years, Ann's artistic abilities came out in many forms from painting to flower arranging to crafts. Ann also enjoyed riding horses with Terry for many years. Once the kids were gone, Ann and Gayle Coble paired up to start Calico Hens Gift Shop were they taught art classes and provided amazing goodies to the community to make life and home special. When Terry and Shelby started their bead business, Ann was a big part of it making wonderful pieces of jewelry and traveling to gem shows with them. Music was a big part of Ann's life as she had a beautiful voice and sang in several choirs. Ann also loved to crank it up and jam to many old pop / rock bands like Chicago and Styx's, she also enjoyed country music, but Christian praise and worship music was her favorite.
Ann's relationship with the Lord was the most important thing in her life and during the later years as she developed serious health problems, Christ was her strength and refuge as He provided wonderful doctors and caregivers.
We will miss you everyday but rejoice in knowing your are in the arms of Jesus and with those who went home before you. Praise our Father God and creator for the precious gift of His Son who died for us so that we could spend an eternity reunited in glory!
